We are thrilled to announce that AGAINST THE TIDE FILMS will attend the Cannes Film Festival 2023, the 76th edition of the prestigious event that celebrates film and filmmakers from all over the world.

We will be there with a new exciting project, called Ayahuasca-Land, a crime series that explores the deadly perfect storm that resulted in the death of a young man who simply wanted to improve the quality of his life.

Our documentary series tells the story of a British banker who travels to a Peruvian psychedelic-medicine retreat in search of healing, only to be killed by his friend in the aftermath of a traditional healing ceremony. This murder mystery involves two Westerners in an Amazonian drug ceremony and grabs the attention of the world’s press, but something doesn’t add up. 

 Ayahuasca-land features exclusive first-person testimony from key protagonists, access to police records and never-before-seen archives, and fresh evidence that points to a story even darker than the one that is already known. 

It is a cautionary tale for anyone wishing to explore the rapidly growing world of psychedelic therapies and a riveting exploration of the deadly consequences of the Ayahuasca business.
